Projection: likely out

Richmond’s résumé shows promising flashes and clear limits. The road victory at Belmont and the neutral-site win over Charlotte prove they can close out tough games away from home, but most of the eye-catching results came against weak nonconference opposition and therefore carry limited weight. The narrow neutral loss at Furman exposed inconsistency and softened the upside of the profile. The conference slate still offers routes to bolster the case with a home date against Davidson and high-stakes tests at St. Louis, George Washington, VCU and St. Bonaventure that would be résumé-defining if won, while routine opponents such as Old Dominion, Elon and La Salle are chances to avoid damaging setbacks without producing signature boosts. In short, Richmond looks capable of finishing with a respectable résumé but needs meaningful road or neutral wins over durable league rivals to move from marginal to comfortable.
