St. Mary's résumé is defined by stout defensive performances and eye-catching neutral-site wins over Wichita State and Virginia Tech that serve as its best moments, but it also carries a damaging neutral loss to Vanderbilt that undermines upside. Most of the comfortable victories have come at home and against lesser West Coast opposition so those results do little to vault the profile, while the remaining slate hands the team meaningful road tests at Davidson, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Gonzaga where a road win would change the conversation and a loss would leave the committee focused on the lack of quality wins away from home.
